The weather this half term has not been on the rowers side, with a number of cancelled races due to flooding of the Thames and strong winds.
However, a busy weekend in October saw 4 senior boys race at Boston in the GB Under19 Trials, with the standout performance of Nick Conway being in the top 20 scullers. Well done also to Daniel White, Atticus Hitchings and Archie Wilkins. The next stage is reaching the 17:40 5k Ergo cut off to progress to the February Water Trials.
The following day was Star Head, with the rest of the Boat Club racing, with this being the first race for the J14s. All squads raced well in a range of boats against schools and clubs from across the country. There were 7 wins across Doubles, Fours, Quads and Eights.
On Saturday 7th December, our invitational Eights Race took place during a lull in the stormy weather! With the Senior boys racing matched 8s and beating the UEA. The two Senior Girls 8s both had gutsy races against the UEA, with the 1st VIII being pipped on the line by 1 second after 4.4 km! The Girls J15 VIII beat Norwich High School. The J14s and J15 boys raced Quads.
Well done to all the rowers for their hard work training on and off the water and adjusting to all conditions the weather has thrown at us.
