8th Norwich Sea Scouts

"Ignite the spirit of adventure"

‘Ignite the spirit of adventure’ is the 8th motto and we have been successfully sending our scouts out into the world for over a hundred years equipped with skills and an attitude to the make the most of our wild places.

Our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers are drawn, predominantly, from Norwich School. Although we are very closely linked to the school we are a separate organisation and follow the aligned, but different, scouting values, and programmes. Our aim is to provide our scouts with access to the much-lauded higher scouting awards. These demonstrate a commitment over time and pair perfectly with our adventurous activity programme.

Although we are a sea scout group our adventurous activity programme extends over land and water. Our scouts enjoy sailing, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and powerboating as well as bushcraft, mountain biking and hill walking. Our weekly term time programme introduces scouts to these activities and our extensive range of residential camps enables them to develop their skills in new locations and for extended periods.

We have coined the phrase the ‘8th Family’ to encompass our adult leadership team. Our weekly programme and camps are run predominantly by volunteers drawn from current and past parents, returning scouts and interested parties attracted to our exciting programme. If you have skills in the above activities, or administration, or would like to learn, please come and join us, we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic people to deliver our programme and join our community.
