The Dyers’ have generously funded a research project aimed at enhancing pupil health and well-being through the use of low-cost step counting watches. This initiative seeks to understand whether simply counting steps can influence the daily activity levels of children.
To gather initial data, the watches were distributed to pupils, who also answered a series of questions to measure their understanding of their own daily physical output. Following this, the pupils attended a talk about the impact of physical activity on their health and well-being. The steps were then tracked based on this educational input. Finally, the children were given an incentive to increase their step count, and this was measured to assess the effectiveness of the intervention.
Quote from Brad Rafftree – The project so far:
"It is already evident that the project has significantly influenced attitudes towards physical activity. The research is expected to yield some interesting results. Above all, the children are enthusiastic about participating in the research project, with every pupil eager to sign up."
