Two members of Norwich School staff, Mrs Wyndham and Mr Granados, will be taking on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon in aid of their chosen charities.
The London Marathon, which this year takes place on Sunday 27 April, is the world’s biggest annual one-day fundraising event. The 26.2 mile course starts in Greenwich before winding it’s way to the finishing line on The Mall.
Below, our two runners tell us about which charities they will be fundraising for, along with their own special connections to them.
Fundraising links to each nominated charity are also included. All donations are greatly appreciated and help to inspire our runners in their amazing efforts!
Mrs Wyndham
Assistant Head and Head of Fourth Form
“I am finally running the London Marathon! I have always hoped to run the event; I have applied every year, for the last 10 years through the ballot but I have never been successful. I therefore feel very fortunate to have been offered a place with the
Terrence Higgins Trust. The Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, dedicated to ending the transmission of HIV in the UK, supporting people living with HIV, and promoting good sexual health.
I came across the Terrence Higgins Trust when the Norwich branch offered and delivered some excellent sexual health talks to my Sixth form pupils, as well as some staff CPD sessions. They believe that every young person in the UK should receive high quality, LGBTQ+ inclusive and age-related relationship and sex education.
To this day it amazes me that there is still a huge stigma around HIV. People living with HIV continue to experience social isolation and discrimination. The Terrence Higgins Trust provides support for people living with HIV, as well access to good quality sexual health and reproductive services. They are aiming to end new cases of HIV by 2030 - which is an amazing feat”

Mr Granados
Exams Officer and SEN Assistant
“I am running the London Marathon (my first marathon!) in 2025 for Alzheimer’s Research UK, the charity leading the search for a cure for dementia. This is a cause that has been close to my heart since losing my Grandad, Alan, to Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia.
Seeing a loved one stripped of their memories and personality is heartbreaking. I hope to contribute to a world where Alzheimer’s and other associated diseases are treatable or preventable – a prospect that is on the horizon thanks to the work of ARUK.
I would be very grateful for any donations to help me hit my fundraising target of £2,500 and to motivate me to hit my target time of 3hrs 15mins, thank you!”
