Our L6 Art Historians enjoyed an art-packed day this week, visiting London to see key works from the A Level syllabus. They started by climbing the dome of St Paul's and learnt about the construction and national significance of this iconic cathedral, then they each presented their own researched talks on in front of artworks in the National Gallery and V&A.
"Our trip started with a visit to St Paul's cathedral. We have been studying this in class and have even made a 3D model of it, so we were really excited for this part of our day. It was fascinating to explore the building from the highest point of the dome right down to the crypt. Next, we visited the National Gallery and the V&A where each of us gave presentations that we had researched over the holidays in front of our chosen artworks. As we cover these artworks for our A Level it was really helpful being able to see them in real life. We also had some time to explore the galleries and see a variety of paintings and sculptures at our leisure, which was a fun way to finish off an educational visit."
