In Pre-Reception, our education focuses on fulfilling the seven areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a purpose of inspiring pupils to explore interests and reach their full potential. This is underpinned by the Characteristics of Effective Learning (CoEL).

The nature of learning is heavily play and exploration focused, with learning opportunities through play, alongside specialist subjects lessons. This approach provides pupils with a vast knowledge which can be explored in greater depth within the continuous provision. We provide a range of opportunities within the curriculum and pupils experience mastery level learning to embed knowledge and understanding. We believe that CoEL are the foundations for learning. The CoEL are attitudes towards learning. These are demonstrated in the forms of pupils exploring and trying new things, having the willingness to have a go, always trying their best and thinking critically and creatively.
