In the fourth form pupils have one timetabled lesson of PPD per week. Lessons revolve around three key themes: Relationships, Living in the Wider World and Health and Wellbeing, covering topics such as Building relationships, Healthy minds, Online Safety and Puberty and Personal health.
PPD lessons also help equip our fourth form pupils with the tools to aid their positive transition to Senior School and the increasing social complexities and pressures that can come with this.
In the fifth form pupils have one timetabled lesson of PPD per week. Lessons continue to be structured around the three key themes of Relationships, Living in the Wider World and Health and Wellbeing. We explore these topics in deeper, more introspective ways during the fifth form, helping pupils to develop their self-awareness and confidence in discussing a range of topics.
The fifth form curriculum also looks to equip pupils with practical revision and stress management skills as they head into their exam years.
In the Sixth form PPD content is delivered through the Futures Programme via both larger seminar style talks and smaller workshops. The sessions look to help our pupils navigate their Sixth form experience and prepare them for life beyond school.
Topics covered include Stress Management, Personal Health Responsibilities, Consent Education, Understanding Discrimination, Safety on a night out, Personal Finances and Mental Health. This offering is frequently reviewed to best reflect the needs of our pupil body throughout their Sixth form journey.
Can I withdraw my child from Relationships and Sex Education?
Parents (or guardians) have a right to request that their child is withdrawn from sex education, but not from relationships education. - From gov.uk
We will write to you at the start of every half term to outline the upcoming PPD topic for your child. When relevant we will ensure to give you the option to withdraw your child and will provide alternative work for them.
For more information on our Sex and Relationships Education provision see our Sex and Relationships Education Statement here.
We have a PPD parent forum to liase with Parents/Guardians regarding current PPD content and to help us tailor our curriculum to best fit our pupil body's needs.
