Friend In Deed

For a school whose community includes children from 4–18, staff and families of all ages, intergenerational activities are always likely to be a hit. For the last 6 years we’ve increased our work with Friend in Deed, a Norfolk charity that aims to increase the presence of older generations in our community and combat loneliness.

We have held 5  Intergenerational Quizes with care homes and also led the singing for four Care Home Choir sessions, which included residents and staff from four local care homes and pupils from Sprowston Infant School.

In June, we also welcomed the return of the Intergenerational Sports Day for the third time, where pupils from Norwich School, Ghost Hill Infant Schol and Framingham Earl High School joined 30 residents from local care homes and families from the charity’s Little Visitors scheme in an afternoon of sports activities. Team members ranged in ages from 0–90 years old, all taking part in an egg and spoon race, bean bag toss, relay and skittles game.
